The Bliss is a short film about the effects of Complex PTSD on romantic relationships. About the deep entanglement of a long love and understanding getting caught in the whirlwind of toxic moments, motivated not by an intent to harm or control, but by a deep fear rooted in immense childhood wounds.
Logline: During an intense flashback, Ellis tries to convince Serena to let him kill himself.
The film will be characterised by despair, longing, and disconnection. Think of the feeling you get when listening to Radiohead.
We are looking for the two main characters:
- Ellis
- Serena
Please feel welcome to apply if you are transgender or non-binary, the genders of the characters are simply a guideline.
Both are aged around 25-35. The screenplay has intense dialogue surrounding suicide, and involves nuanced and intense non-verbal scenes, evolving from subtle despair to full mania.
You must be either native or very fluent in English.
Draaidagen: Shooting dates are not yet confirmed, but we are aiming at:
- 2 days of rehearsals at the end of March 2026
- 2-3 days of shooting in early April 2026
Shooting will be in Amsterdam and the surrounding area.
